Amy Tan Summery

           

            Amy Tan is a Chinese American girl; Amy’s mother came to US in 1949. Amy

has a shy and quite personality but her mom wants Amy be a loud and active person.

When Amy’s mother came to US she were living in San Francisco, Sacramento road in a

Chinese town and her job was house keeping. Amy born in US and she always tried to act

like an American girl. Amy’s mother bought a piano for Amy and told her to go to class

and learn how to be professional, but Amy didn’t want to learn piano, she couldn’t tell

her mom for some reason: first she was shy and second she was scare of her mom. When

she started to learn piano it was so hard for her, she couldn’t do anything right when she

told her mother that she can’t play piano her mom got upset of her and yelled at her and

told her you are lazy and you just don’t want try. A talent show was coming and Amy

had to practice and memorize the note, she tried to practice and memorize the note but

every time she couldn’t go over than half. Finally the day for talent show came and Amy

was so stressful. There were some other programs before Amy’s program. After all the

programs get done now it was the time for Amy show. Amy’s parents and many other

parents and children were watching them; Amy’s legs were shaking out of stress. Amy

started to play piano and every body was watching them. Amy was doing well since the

half, and then she starts doing wrong, finally she end it but not well. A day after talent

show when Amy was watching the TV her mom told her to turn off the TV but she didn’t

listen. They got a big argue about her yesterday show and Amy said I hope I was the

baby died and never born. Amy’s mom went calm and silent and they never talked about

playing piano. A few years after when Amy was independent her mom told her the piano

is yours as a birth gift and you can have it, first Amy didn’t accepted but finally she said

okay I’ll take it home but she didn’t play it for a while. Amy stated to play piano a few

time later. She just realized how the notes are coming back to her quickly. She kind of

liked the piano and she saw how easy that was. She wrote a letter for her mom, on that

letter she was saying that she is apologize about what she did and now she is start to

playing the piano but it was to late and her mom was die.

            In conclusion Amy is a Chinese American girl who always wanted to be a

American girl and she had so conflict with her mom. Amy was forced by her mom to be

professional piano player but her never become because she didn’t want to.

Places for the Rent

            Does anyone like to live in the street? People have always needed a place to sleep and rest. The first human beings used caves to sleep and to stay away from dangers animal and also to protect themselves from rain, cold and warm weather. As time passed and technology became better, people started to make small places to live, that out call home nowadays. In the past, like now, many people were poor and a few people were rich. Poor people couldn’t build a house or buy one because they didn’t have enough money or they weren’t owns a land so they had to work for someone and rent a home from them. Today is exactly like the past with a few different things; before, they were just a few home or houses, but now there are many places to rent such as apartments, houses and condo.

            Most of the places people rent are apartments; there are many apartments with many different designs and sizes such as regular, low income, and luxury. Regular apartments have a few workers like land keepers and handy men who make keys and fix things. In regular apartments, the rent is not very high but there are many other good benefits like a clean pool, a clean area, and most of them are quiet. They don’t have many parking spaces but it can cover residents and their guests. For living in regular apartments, residents have to pay for garbage. There are many other apartments that are for people who have low income. Companies give these people low price apartments base on their income. Low income apartments have few parking spaces that are not enough for resident’s maybe just one parking space for each unit. Low income apartments are not usually quite, and almost none of them have a microwave. There are a few other apartments called luxury. They are really nice and very big, furnished with many other things and, of course, expensive. People who are live in luxury apartments are not worried about parking spaces and laundry. They all have a laundry. Luxury apartments are not very common and mostly the people who have more than average income live there.

            There are some other places people rent, and they are called condos or condominium. A most interesting thing about the condos is that they can move. There are many type of condominium such a real property, personal property and own condo and property. People who live in real property don’t own any land or property, but they do have the condo. They bought the condo, but they don’t have any place to set it. These people have to lease or rent a property and pay the rent amount to the owner monthly. The people who live in a condo don’t usually have laundry in there, and they have to use public laundry places to wash their cloths. There are some people who have a land or property, but they don’t have enough money to build a house. These people rent a condo, set it up in their property, and they pay the rent monthly to the owner of condo. Some people have both; they own the land and they own a condo. The only thing these people have to pay is property taxes.

            Other common places to rent are houses. Houses are very diverse, and they can be small, medium and luxury houses. Even small houses are bigger than luxury apartments. Small houses don’t have a big backyard and absolutely no pool. Small houses are usually made by big companies and they are next to each other. Moving from apartments or condo to a small house is the smart idea. Because instead of paying the rent they can pay some more and be owner in next few years. Medium houses have 4 or 5 bedrooms and 2bathrooms. They usually have a pool in the backyard and a room for guests. To buy or finance a medium house, a good job with a high income is required from the buyer. Medium houses areas are mostly quiet, and they have 2 or 4 specific parking spaces. Most of them have a laundry in their garage and the people don’t need to go to public laundry places. These types of houses are the most popular and every one dreams to living there. Luxury houses are the biggest between all the types of houses. They are very big and really nice and beautiful; they have many rooms and bathrooms, a big pool and a backyard, they people who live there have some worker to clean their backyard and their house. Those who live in these houses are rich, and they make much money.

            Apartments, houses, condos are 3 places people rent to live. Apartments are common and most of the time they are cheap. Condos can be moved to different places. Houses are big and they are comfortable to live. The reason there are many places to rent, cheap and expensive, is because people have different income and different goals.
